The multiplier 9.5 is the most widely accepted standard across India, officially endorsed by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) and CBSE. This specific number is used because the average of the marks in the highest grade (10 points) is approximately 95%. Dividing 95 by 10 gives the standard multiplier of 9.5.
